Immense architectural wonder
The Hôtel Maynier-d'Oppède used to be a privately owned mansion, belonging to one of the twon’s most famous families, the Maynier d'Oppede’s, since its construction in 1490.
Back in 1730 the mansion was purchased from the family and redesigned by the architects Thommasins and Vallon. The result is the Hôtel Maynier-d'Oppède, one of Aix’s most famous architectural buildings.
The magnificent façade of the Hôtel Maynier-d'Oppède houses the Institute of French Studies, while its courtyard hosts classical music performances during the hot summers.
