The oldest active church in Alicante
The St. Mary´s Church (Iglesia de Santa Maria) stands on the foundations of a Moorish mosque and was build between the 14th and 16 th century. This is the oldest active church in Alicante.
Inside St. Mary´s Church you can find many artistic treasures, the most valuable dating from the 15th century. One is of particular interest: the white marble font from the 16th century, that is attributed to the school of Michelangelo.
