Silent witness of the Spanish Independence War

Castillo de San Fernando (Castle of San Fernando) was built on the Tossal during the Spanish Independence War in 1813. Its purpose was to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, and to serve as a prison.

Today, Castillo de San Fernando is a sightseeing spot and a place of rest and leisure. On the way up to the castle you will find a number of other interesting attractions and monuments, including a monument to the heroes of the Spanish War of Independence against Napoleon.
