Barcelona has a profusion of tapas bars where the locals relax and put the world to rights over delicious bite-sized dishes; each bar has its own character and its own band of regulars. The city's restaurants have always been excellent value but recently an exciting new generation of chefs, led by gastronomic goliath Ferran Adrià, have been attracting attention by applying the Catalan gift for innovation and design flair to the art of cooking. The results are spectacular.
