Thanks to the Olympics, Beijing's hotel industry has blossomed in the last two years. The capital gained an extra 12,000 hotel rooms in 2008 alone, and big players such as Aman, Sofitel, Park Hyatt and the yet-to-open Mandarin Oriental all stepped onto the scene. Thankfully, the city has also gained a number of groundbreaking boutique hotels; the Kenzo Kuma-designed Opposite House and the decidedly glamorous Hotel G being among the most notable.
