Even five-star beds are relatively cheap
Berlin hotels, in every category from convivial backpacker hostels to grand new five-stars, are notably less expensive than those of comparable European capitals. There are two concentrations: Mitte, where most of the new places can be found, the eastern tourist infrastructure having undergone a complete facelift since the fall of the Wall; and Charlottenburg, where the elegant hotels of the Ku-damm are complemented by atmospheric old townhouse pensions dripping with history and eccentric style.
