Residence at the Palace of Brussels
Though the Royal Palace of Brussels is the official palace of the King of the Belgians, it is the Royal Castle of Laken (Château de Laeken) where the king and his family actually reside. Located just outside of Brussels, the Castle at Laken was built between 1782-1784 by Charles de Wailly.
Though a portion of the Royal Castle of Laken was destroyed in the fire of 1890, the castle has been rebuilt and extended by Alphonse Balat. French architect Charles Girault added its current outline in 1902.
