Church of Our Lady of Sablon
The Notre Dame du Sablon was built in the 15th and 16th centuries and once home to a statue of Mary shipped in from Antwerp on account of its reputed healing powers. A carving of the boat can be seen in the nave but the statue was demolished by Protestants during the Iconoclastic Riots.
The statue’s arrival at the Notre Dame du Sablon is still celebrated in July’s Ommegang procession. The current impressive structure boasts some stunning 14-metre (46-foot) high stained-glass windows
