Music in art nouveau splendour
The Musée des Instruments de Musique (musical instruments museum) has to rank among the top previous-usage buildings in the world. Situated at the top of the Mont des Arts, it has spectacular views over downtown Brussels, particularly from the top-floor café.
With its stunning, 1,500-piece interactive collection (it has 6,000 items in all, the largest collection in the world), the Musée des Instruments de Musique sits in Old England, an ostentatious art nouveau department store.
