Summer parties and wild winter nights
In Budapest, nightclubs have different opening times in summer and winter. From June, terraces by the Danube (particularly around Szabadság and Petöfi bridges) and dilapidated courtyards (mainly in District VII) are turned into mainstream bar-discos and edgy DJ clubs respectively. A boozy, sensual hedonism blooms. From September, the scene orbits around smoky venues in Districts VI and VII, leaving the standard downtown and off-Andrássy hubs to tourists and undiscerning locals. Stag weekenders scatter amid the city’s many sex bars.
