Host of the annual Cannes Film Festival
It hosts one of the most prestigious International film festivals in the world, but Cannes is more than a travel destination for filmophiles. Fashionistas and fun-seekers will find here an exclusive city, with high-end restaurants, exotic nightlife, luxury boutiques and designer fashion shops lining La Croisette. Cannes is an amazing experience for the posh traveler, but it attracts history lovers as well, as no other town on the French Riviera has such a dramatic and mysterious past – the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned on the Ile Sainte-Marguerite, half a mile off shore from the city.
