The largest Lerin Island
Île Sainte-Marguerite is the largest of the trio of islands that make up the Lerins, and can be reached vai a 15 minute ferry ride from the mainland.
Île Sainte-Marguerite used to be known as “Lero” in ancient times. It houses an excellent maritime musuem, and a fantastic 17th century era fort.
Île Sainte-Marguerite also served as a prison for a while, and was the secretive home of a legendary character in French folklore - the man in the iron mask.
