Children’s learning playground at Chicago’s Navy Pier
Navy Pier is a well-known tourists attraction, but it also houses the Chicago Children’s Museum. Filled with permanent exhibits for hand-on play, the museum has areas dedicated to preschoolers and to children up to age 10.
One exhibit is the Dinosaur Expedition, re-creating a trip to the Sahara, from camp life to digging. A full-scale model of Suchomius, a Saharan dinosaur discovered by Chicago paleontologist Paul Sereno, towers over visitors in the Children’s Museum. There is also a three-level schooner for children to explore, from the crow’s nest to the gangplank. PlayMaze is a tot-sized city with all the trimmings.
