An outstanding example for the Roman fortifications
The Roman Tower is an outstanding example of early Roman fortifications. The tower here, built in the 1st Century, shows off a fantastic and well preserved mosaic decoration not usually found in tact in such structures.
The very foupndations of what is today Cologne, were built upon fortifications like the Roman Tower. As early as 50 AD, the Romans founded the city, then called Colonia, on the Rhine.
