The Edinburgh City Art Centre hosts civic shows alongside large touring exhibitions (for which there’s sometimes an admission charge); there’s also a spacious café and shop.
Treading the thin line between public edutainment and contemporary art, this six-floor gallery positively dwarfs the Fruitmarket opposite, but tends to have problems grappling with its own size.
