Glittering gold shops and romantic sunset views
Florence’s iconic Ponte Vecchio (‘Old Bridge’) was built in 1345 and crosses the Arno at its narrowest point. Today’s chic, glittering gold shops were once occupied by malodorous butchers until Cosimo I kicked them out in the mid 16th century.
The secret Vasari corridor runs along the eastern side on top of the shops. Undeniably romantic, it is one the best spots from which to catch Florence’s sunsets.
