The most famous Frankfurt bars and pubs (Kneipen) cuddle comfortably in Alt-Sachsenhausen, a part of the suburb Sachsenhausen south of the Main river. Here, have a taste of Ebbelwoi, a traditional, local, apple wine, or go for a house beer. Very popular with the locals are the bars and pubs on Textorstrasse, and the biergardens at ‘Berger Straße’ and the surrounding area. There are many gay and lesbian bars in Frankfurt as well, all lively and fun. Stay away from bars in remote areas of the city.
