The best tertiary educational institition in the city
The Gothenburg University was established in the year 1891. Sixteen years after, in 1907 this learning institution received university status.
The Gothenburg University used to rent out a wooden facility at the intersection of Parkgatan and Södra vägen. In 1907 the University building located in Vasaparken was opened. It however grew quickly and pretty soon the building became too small for the institute’s operations. School officials then decided to relocate to Lorensberg, which is a short distance from the new university library situated in Renströmsparken.
In the year 1954, the school was nationalized and henceforth changed its name to the Gothenburg University College.
