Honoring Augustin Ehrensvärd since 1930
The Ehrensvärd Museum honors the life and work of Augustin Ehrensvärd (1710-1772), the Swedish military architect, and lieutenant colonel in the artillery who founded the fortress Suomenlinna. The museum exhibits paintings, furniture, weapons and ship models.
The building in which the Ehrensvärd Museum is housed was once home to the officer. In itself, the house is a perfect example of how housing and the defensive system were connected under the same roof at Suomenlinna Fortress.
