One of America's top 50 roadside attractions
As much a popular attraction as it is an art gallery, The Beer Can House is made of more than 50,000 beer cans. The project was started in 1968 by John Milkovisch, who covered his house in flattened beer cans for both practical and decorative reasons: the cans lowered the family’s energy bills.
The Beer Can House is adorned with many different types of beer cans that Milkovisch drank, but also with cans from neighbors. Milkovisch never considered his work art, but an enjoyable pastime. Today, the house hosts a folk art gallery.
