The birthplace of Jazz
The 18th & Vine District is known as the birthplace of jazz around the world. This area of Kansas City is where the legends played. From Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald, to Joe Turner and Charlie Yardbird Parker, jazz musicians from around the world came here back in the day to show off their talent.
Since the city gave the area a makeover, new breath has been breathed into one of the most historic neighborhoods in all America. Visitors can now visit the American Jazz Museum, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, The Blue Room Jazz Club, Horace M. Peterson III Visitors Center, and many more wonderful attractions.
