Malaysia’s alpha city

Kuala Lumpur is a relatively young city, built around a small sleepy Chinese tin-mining village. It grew spectacularly, from rural-community to world-class metropolis in only 150 years. The city is packed with attractions waiting to be discovered. It’s hot, humid and crowded, but travelers flock here to enjoy the depth of Malaysian culture, its richness and variety. Kuala Lumpur is a city of opportunities, with a large palette of activities for the entire family – from sports to spas, nightclubs to family fun.

Police Sikh Temple

A unique Sikh temple

Stay Editor's Note

As the name suggests, Police Sikh Temple was created for the Sikhs by the police force of Kuala Lumpur during the reign of the British. While serving as a tourist attraction, this small place has been maintained and became a popular place of worship. Even tourists are welcome to pray inside.

The Police Sikh gurdwara, or place of worship, has not been adorned much with religious decorations as it was intended to be a place of worship. You can see a flagpole outside of the temple with a triangular-shaped flag bearing two Punjabi letters signifying the Sikh insignia meaning “God is the eternal reality.”

Other notable things to see in the Police Sikh Temple are the Sikh symbol at the entrance gate, and their holy book on a dais right in front of the entrance.
