There are scaled-down versions of museum topics you’d expect to find in any big city (natural, art and human histories), and some that are unique to Southern Nevada culture (the Hoover Dam, neon, atomic testing). Then there are those that are so Vegas (Elvis, Liberace) and those that are not so Vegas (pinball, clowns, automobiles). All in all, the Las Vegas museums are as eclectic as they get.
