Madrid boasts one of the finest collections of art galleries in Europe. The three jewels of the Paseo del Arte – the Prado, the Thyssen and the Reina Sofia – offer an overwhelming feast of masterpieces. Altogether more manageable are the city's individual galleries, where Madrid's centuries-old love affair with art continues. The galleries congregate around the Reina Sofia and behind the breathtaking new La Caixa cultural centre on the Paseo del Prado.
