Rustic good looks and gorgeous grilled meat is what...
Rustic good looks and gorgeous grilled meat is what you get at La Leñera, probably the most attractive restaurant on Calle Hernani round the corner from Cuatro Caminos Metro station in central Madrid. An immaculate bar serves as a relaxed holding pen before you’re taken to your spot in one of two spacious rustic-themed dining rooms decorated with turquoise stained wood, arty rows of wine bottles, and traditional wooden artisan tool like sieves and pans. La Lenera’s famed fine cuts of meat roast slowly before hungry eyes an open coal-fire grill. Specialties include Spanish-style blood sausages. For something more elaborate, try the monkfish with oricios sauce (it’s a type of sea urchin). Choosing may take a while; the menu’s even more generous than the portions.
