Shopping in Madrid

Although Madrid has the usual range of chain stores, you'll still find individual shops and boutiques if you wander off the main thoroughfares. Gran Vía is home to flagship stores including the Spanish chain Zara; Calle Serrano in Salamanca is the place to head for high-end fashion boutiques; Chueca is favoured by a cool young crowd searching for the latest hip outfits. Last but not least the Rastro, Madrid's sprawling Sunday flea market, shouldn't be missed.
