Internationally renowned art museum
The Currier Museum of Art was founded in 1929 by former New Hampshire Governor Moody Currier and his third wife, Hannah Slade Currier. The original name of the venue was The Currier Art Center. In 1982, the existing structure was enhanced with new pavilions, designed by Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer.
In 2002, the Gallery changed its name to the Currier Museum of Art. The museum was recently remodeled and expanded, and, when it reopened in 2008 it received the Design Honor Award from the New Hampshire chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and a "People's Choice Award" through the AIA
