There are numerous must sees in the area, but for the ultimate Messina travel guide we would like to mention the Cathedral, and the church Santa Maria degli Alemanni, the San Ranieri lighthouse, and the Regional Museum. Discover the surrounding nature around Messina as well.
A piece of beautiful past
Designed in the 17th century by Domenico Biondo, Porta Grazia marked the passage to the old citadel of the city.
The beautiful Baroque design is impressive still and the magnificent gate thrones in Piazza Casa Pia, giving measure of the resistance fight against the Spanish invaders.
