It's brush hour in Mumbai
Mumbai art galleries show roughly 11,000 works every year. Obviously not all of it is good. But the world’s rising interest in Indian art, and the high prices Indian canvases now fetch internationally, ensures that good work doesn’t go unnoticed. Mumbai’s lack of space means most galleries aren’t roomy, so sculpture and space-intensive installations are confined to a few warehouse-turned-galleries. In the others, you’ll find everything from mixed-media to characterless abstracts.
