A favorite for cricket pitches
Not as clean and well preserved as Oval Maidan, Azad Maidan, opposite the Victoria Terminus, is nevertheless known as a venue for protest meetings and political rallies. The field is used by cricket players to train, and weekends you’ll find most of Mumbai’s youth playing there.
During the struggle for India’s independence, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri used Azad Maidan to address the crowds.
