Since 1995 a World Heritage Site

Between 1282-1816 Naples was the capital of the Kingdom of Naples, comprising all of the southern part of the Italian peninsula. Today, the city still preserves some of the past glory, keeping in the top 100 in the world by purchasing power. Centro Storico is the largest in Europe (1700 hectares).

The historic city centre (Centro Storico) of Naples abounds in touristic attractions. For the Catholic faithful for example, Naples has more attractions than any other city in the world: over 400 historical churches, many of them in the centre. Other attractions in Centro Storico include Teatro di San Carlo, Galleria Umberto, Castel Nuovo, the Royal Palace and many other more.
