Explore local and exotic wildlife
In the heart of Knowland Park, the Oakland Zoo founded in 1922 by Henry Snow is home to 660 native and exotic animals, carefully accommodated in specific habitats, introducing visitors to the different species' life in the wild.
Oakland Zoo’s main attractions are the African Savannah, the Rain Forest and the children’s favorite, Wayne and Gladys Valley Children’s Zoo, a mix of zoo with a children’s museum and a playground. Don’t miss their WildLife Theater and the Rides Area, with its thrilling rides that include a rollercoaster, a carousel and the Outback Express Adventure Train.
Animal feeding is always fun, so check out the feeding schedule on the zoo’s website.
