Akershus Slott is considered by many the birthplace of Norway. It's an impressive fortress, with thick walls, where Oslo was initially founded. Many other buildings in the city are massive, showing a certain preference for sturdy edifices. Oslo cannot really pride with stunning architecture, despite the fact that its new-age buildings are celebrated internationally.
