If you’re into the bizarre life and afterlife of the Cappuccini monks, Catacombe dei Cappuccini is a must see. Located below Capuchins Monastery, the catacombs present more than 8000 fully dressed and very expressive mummies, monks and civilians, nobles and servants alike.

Don’t visit here unless you’re prepared to be creeped out. This cemetery is the final resting place of about 8,000 locals who died between the 17th and 19th centuries, and whose bodies you can still see, lying on display here. Not for the faint of heart.
