The colorful Palermo
The center of the old Palermo and rapidly growing and changing, La Kalsa is a colorful neighborhood, despite the poverty and the destruction left behind by war.
Built by Arab rulers, La Kalsa was already in a poor state before the Second World War, but the bomb raids made the situation even worse. The visit of Mother Teresa in Palermo years later preached for mercy in the home of the Albanian community of Palermo and her words are starting to have effect.
