A fantastic monument to see in Paris
La Grande Arche de La Defense is a beautiful monument in the business district of La Defense. Sometimes it is simply known as La Grande Arche. It was designed by Danish architect Johann Otto von Spreckelsen who lived from 1929 to 1987. The project began in 1982 and was completed in 1989.
Although it was inaugurated in 1989 with grand military parades marking the bicentennial of the French Revolution, the La Grande Arche de La Defense was actually designed and built to honor humanity and humanitarian ideals rather than military victories. Magnificent views of Paris may be had by riding the lift to the roof.
