Former location of the Bastille prison
Paris is a city full of historical venues and the Place de la Bastille is definitely one of them. This square is where the Bastille prison was located until it was destroyed during the French Revolution. Today it’s often the location of important political demonstrations, concerts and other events.
Place de la Bastille is currently home to the Bastille Opera, the July Column, commemorating the events of the July Revolution of 1830, the Bastille railway station and more. It’s also a happening area for night life and includes many bars, night clubs and concert halls. By day, there are lots of cafes and quaint little dining venues from which to choose.
