Modern meets traditional in grand old Prague

Whilst many European cities have gradually modernised and adapted a 21st century look, Prague excels as changing with the times whilst remaining postcard old-beautiful. Strolling around you get a sense of Prague’s rich and troubled history, but the café culture of old meets the new cosmopolitan desire to embrace the weekend-away spirit. As for shopping, you can still unearth beautiful craftsmanship and wonderful jewellery.

Wenceslas Square Christmas Market

An alternative to Prague's Old Town Square Christmas Market

Stay Editor's Note

The Wenceslas Square Christmas Market is just 5 minutes walk from the most popular shopping destination of this kind in Prague, the Old Town Square Christmas Market. The market opens four Saturdays before December 24, and lasts till the first week of January.

You’ll find Wenceslas Square Christmas Market on the pedestrian side of the square. The market sells all kinds of Czech arts and crafts, season gifts, Christmas decorations and other interesting items. Of course, mulled wine perfumes the air, and you can tame your hunger with delicious season dishes made to-go.
