Stay out of the tacky souvenir shops - the best way to enjoy Riga shopping for gifts and souvenirs is to buy in the central market or throughout Old Riga’s little stands. Riga offers enough for fashionistas - Latvian girls like fashion - but brands are here more expensive than elsewhere. Buy instead local fashion - there are a number of designer shops you will particularly enjoy. There are a number of very good jewelry stores, and for more unusual gifts, check out Latgalite, a flea market where you can find Soviet era items, such as hats, medals, pins, or complete uniforms.
