The way Rio travelled way back when
One of Rio de Janeiro’s best, and cheapest tours can be had riding the Bonde de Santa Teresa. This old tram system traverses much of the city, in a rather antiquated but charming way. The old system has been preserved much as it was at the turn of the last Century (1896).
The tram has come to represent the Santa Teresa section of the city, one of the quirkiest and most interesting there. For a trip through Rio, and a look back at the past, this little adventure is just the ticket.
(Bonde de Santa Teresa is closed until 2013, due to an accident.)
