Culture and beauty for everyone
The Salt Lake City Public Library was originally housed in the Salt Lake City and County Building in 1898, then moved to the Old Hansen Planetarium (currently the O.C. Tanner Company building) in 1904, and finally, received a new, more modern, and larger home, in 2003.
The new Salt Lake City Public Library boasts 240,000 square feet of space for more than 500,000 books and other materials. The modern building welcomes visitors with shops at ground level, reading galleries above, and a 300-seat auditorium. In addition of being a palace of culture, the building offers stunning views of Salt Lake City from its roof-top garden.
