There’s a wide range of hotels to choose from in San Francisco, ranging from the luxury of the Four Seasons to the mid-priced chic Joie de Vivre hotels to the string of 1950s-era motels near the Golden Gate Bridge. Most lodging is found near Union Square (home to the city’s big department stores and high-end fashion boutiques) or down the road in the less savoury Tenderloin. There are also a few budget-friendly hostels scattered around the city.
