A gift to the Telfair Academy of Arts

Savannah’s Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences preserves the legacy of Owens-Thomas House. Built in 1819, this historic house was gifted with its contents to the art museum by the granddaughter of Congressman and Savannah Mayor George Welshman Owens back in 1951.

Today visitors to the gallery of period art can also enjoy seeing the furnishings and classic architecture of Owens-Thomas House. This venue makes for a nice one hour diversion from seeing the rest of the Savannah attractions in the area.
