A Savannah seagoing legacy revealed
A wonderful collection of model ships, maritime paintings, and artifacts fill the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum. From the historic building in which the museum is housed to all the things dedicated to the sea inside, this is the best place to drink in Savannah’s maritime legacy.
Situated in the historic Scarborough House (circa 1819) the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum owes much to the former president of the Savannah Steamship Company, who was also responsible for building SS Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic. Kids will especially enjoy the superb model work on display here. And the whole family is welcome to explore the grounds as well.
