A golden icon of Seville
The beautiful Torre del Oro or ‘Golden Tower’ itself easily overshadows the small naval museum it now contains. Built by the Moors in the 13th century as part of the defences of Seville, the origins of its name are a mystery.
Some say that the tower was once covered in glittering tiles, and some say that it’s because gold plundered from the New World was landed here.
