Treasures of al-Andalus
Ruled by the Moors for 700 years and not fully integrated into Christian Spain until the 16th century, Andalucía has a rich and varied history. It is this Moorish heritage that gives the region its distinctive character, and is most visible in the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Córdoba and the Alcázar in Seville. The associated Seville museums offer a detailed insight into a period whose influences have remained strong to the present day.
