A free zoological treasure
The 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair is credited for the birth of the St. Louis Zoo; home to over 5000 animals from 700 species on 90 acres, including an insectarium, a children’s zoo, an indoor walk through sub-Antarctic exhibit and much more.
Located in the large park setting of Forest Park, one of the zoo’s special features is the Zooline Railroad, a small passenger train that encircles the zoo, stopping at the more popular attractions.
