The Nose knows
The name sets a high standard, but Gio Rana’s – located in a barely converted bank, with a giant paper mâché nose in lieu of a sign – rises above. Bargain-store chandeliers hang overhead; traces of hastily removed wallpaper and linoleum mark the walls and floor.
The effect, though, is more surreal than cheap. (Oddly, it’s a great place for romance.) Chef Scott Pennock adheres to the traditions of southern Italy, with rich antipastis to start, and beef tenderloin, involtini and slow-roasted duck to follow.
