A rare photographic experience
The Fondazione italiana per la fotografia, opened in new, larger premises in the Ponte Mosca district north of Porta Palazzo in March 2004. The gallery grew out of a photo museum opened in the 1980’s and for many years the Fondazione has promoted high-level exhibitions and the Biennale internazionale della fotografia event.
The Fondazione plans a significant increase in its activities, including much larger, longer exhibitions both in via La Salle – where two major shows are scheduled each year – and in major venues around the Piedmont region.
Also in the new premises, the reorganized library will offer a more user-friendly service to the public, while archive and cataloging activities will be stepped up, as will the program of lectures and courses. The Fondazione’s photo-restoration unit is located in via Locana 14.
The move to this far-from-central area of town brings the Fondazione’s headquarters close to the Progetto Ponte Mosca, a city- and region-funded urban renewal project for this run-down area that, it is hoped, will go the way of the Quadrilatero romano and become a trendy cultural hub.
