'Venice is not a hotel' is a protest slogan going around town and it's hard not to see why. Family homes and Baroque palaces have all been turned into B&Bs or luxury hotels. Whilst infuriating locals, this means there are plenty of options, whether you're after a pretty boutique hotel with a private garden or a chain hotel with gym and wellness centre. Off-season bargains are plentiful and there really is something for everyone.
